Dr. Zorica Filipovic-Jewell works with adult individuals experiencing a wide range of psychiatric symptoms utilizing psychotherapy alone, or psychotherapy in combination with medication management when indicated.

Dr. Filipovic-Jewell has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital for over 7 years where she taught fellows, residents and medical students. She actively participates in numerous psychiatric associations as well as publishing articles in various psychiatric journals.

As dually certified in both General Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine, Dr. Filipovic-Jewell has special expertise in psychiatric treatment of patients with a variety of simple or complicated medical problems such as medication side effects, cancer, transplant, neurological, cardiovascular gastrointestinal diseases, HIV and others.

Dr. Zorica Filipovic-Jewell appreciates the diversity of all human beings. Among others, she works with various professionals in helping them achieve the best results while maintaining optimal mental health and an overall balanced life.

Dr. Filipovic-Jewell’s special focus is providing her patients with essential skills that support emotional and psychological well-being. These skills include Processing and Regulating Emotions, Self-Awareness, Emotional Resilience, Effective Relationship Skills, Healthy Boundaries, Cultivating Self-compassion, proper sleep, proper nutrition and proper physical activity.

This is done either proactively or after recovering from various psychiatric conditions. Her patients are not only equipped to manage their mental health challenges but are also empowered to lead balanced and fulfilling lives.

Credentials

Dr. Zorica Filipovic-Jewell is board certified in General Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry [formerly known as Psychosomatic Medicine]. She trained in Psychiatry at the Maimonides Medical Center and then completed a Psychosomatic Medicine Fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. She has received additional training at the Psychoanalytic Institute of New York at NYU [psychoanalysis], at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy [CBT], and attended courses in Emotionally Focused Therapy [EFT] and Internal Family Systems [IFS] therapy.

Dr. Filipovic-Jewell has recognized expertise in the neurobehavioral aspect of Traumatic Brain Injury and serves as an independent Consultant Psychiatrist for professional athletes.

In 2017, Dr. Filipovic-Jewell established a highly successful psychiatric private practice in Manhattan that combines both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.
